Get Stinky, Get Dirty - Learn

All my life I’ve dreamed of having a garden. When we were kids, my sister and I would pray every night for a lawn where we could run and play all day, a huge swing for us to enjoy and lots and lots of flowers for us to pick. That dream died a natural death and faded into the void of many a childhood dream that never came true.

But dreams do come true!  After 30 long years, my family moved out of our old home.  It was sad leaving all the memories behind, but oh my god, the new house had a garden! I wasted no time at all...  It was up to me to make my foliage kingdom a reality.

But there is a great difference between dreaming about it and actually doing it.  I realized that since I lived a garden-less existence, I never really had the chance to put my planting skills to the test.  It's never too late.

I prepared my battle plan:  Choose my dream garden, consult gardening gurus, draft my actual landscaping plan...  Read books, look at other gardens, take lessons... Research, research, research!  I liked what I was doing so I was more than ready to learn everything that I could.

It was not easy. But nothing in this word really is.  If you want something really bad, you will do every thing in your power to achieve it. My garden is looking good.  It may not be the best but it's the perfect one for me.

My dream garden is now a reality.  I never thought that I would ever turn out to be a good gardener.  But like what that kid in the popular commercial said...  I got stinky, I got dirty, but I learned.
